A Historic Small Town with Big Texas Charm

Welcome to Montgomery, birthplace of the Texas flag and one of the oldest towns in Texas, dating back to the 1820s. In the early days, it was a trade center for a large farming region, where stagecoach and telegraph lines crossed. The first school was established in 1839, and the city was incorporated in 1848. A building boom in the 1850s led to the construction of many fine homes, many of which still stand, with descendants of original owners continuing to call them home.

Montgomery offers guests a taste of Texas history with its preserved historic downtown district, antique shops, local boutiques, restaurants, wineries, and attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy easy access to fishing, boating, and water sports at Lake Conroe, as well as hiking the trails of Sam Houston National Forest. There are plenty of great things to do in Montgomery, TX!
